Early/Middle College Program   Not only can WBSD students earn their high school diploma but they can also earn an associate degree one year after completing high school. In partnership with the Wayne County Community College District, students may now pursue a tuition-free associate degree while attending high school. Our first cohort of students began taking classes at Wayne County's Taylor campus in September 2017, while our second cohort began taking classes at Patrick Henry Middle School.  For more information on this one-of-a-kind program, visit Early/Middle College.

  Kindergarten Enrollment Information
Enrollment age requirements will remain the same for the 2017-18 school year as they were in 2016-17. Parents may enroll a child who resides in the school district in kindergarten if the child is at least 5 years of age on September 1 of the school year of enrollment. If a child does not meet the minimum age requirement, but will turn 5 years of age not later than December 1 of that school year, the district could enroll the child for that school year if the parent or legal guardian notifies the district in writing that he or she intends to enroll the child in kindergarten for that school year.

Kindergarten/Young Five enrollment packets are available in the elementary buildings and at the Administration Offices. We look forward to welcoming our youngest students in the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District for the 2017-18 school year.

 Board of Education Revises Policies
  Bylaws and Policies
The Board of Education, along with the Policy Sub-Committee and district administration, worked with Mr. Kevin Sutton of Lusk & Albertson to perform an extensive review of every existing Board by-law and policy. This process involved at least 10 meetings and covered a minimum of 70 man-hours. The final product is concise and up to date with current law.  At its January, 17, 2017 meeting, the Board approved and adopted the new set of policies.

  District Water Testing Results
The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District, as a proactive measure, contracted Arch Environmental Group to conduct drinking water tests for lead. AEG tested "first draw" and drinking water samples in all eight of the district's school buildings. We're pleased to report that water from all of the outlets tested well below levels established by the Environmental Protection Agency.
"The safety and well-being of our students and staff has always remained our top priority, so we are obviously pleased with the water resting results," said Superintendent Mark Greathead. "Arch Environmental has informed us that no further action is required and we would like to thank them for the thorough testing of the drinking water in our buildings."
